1. Anal canal ultrasonography (AUS): for complex perianal purulent diseases and abscesses that cannot be determined clinically, anal canal ultrasonography can be used to help determine the anatomical relationship between abscess, fistula and sphincter, and occasionally identify internal orifice.
2. Digital rectal examination: local tenderness and wave motion of abscess.
3. Puncture suction.
4. Defecography: it can show the location, quantity, depth, size, shape and direction of abscess and fistula.
