What causes the perianal abscess?

About 99% of perianal abscess is related to anal gland infection and suppuration. Most of the normal anal glands are located between the internal and external sphincters of the anus, and the opening is located in the anal recess. When feces and bacteria enter the anal gland through the opening, it can cause anal sinusitis and anal gland inflammation, which can spread to the tissues around the anus and rectum to form perianal abscess. The spaces around the anorectum are usually filled with adipose tissue and lymphoid tissue. The tissue is loose. Abscesses often occur in these spaces during infection. Other causes include injury, foreign bodies, proctitis, skin diseases, etc.
However, it should be pointed out that the infection of some lesions does not come from the anal gland. For example, some perianorectal abscesses can directly come from anal fissure, rupture of thrombotic external hemorrhoids, prolapsed thrombotic internal hemorrhoids, internal hemorrhoids or rectal prolapse. After drug injection, they can also come from perianal skin infection, sepsis, blood diseases or direct trauma. A few cases can also come from tuberculosis Ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease.
